The Correspondents (2026-2027)

a year-long, by-mail, individualized exchange of experience as performance project

Skewed Visions's artistic-managing director, Charles Campbell, will write one letter by hand with pen on paper directly to you once a month for one year. You may write back or choose only to receive these letters. We ask only that you have made a donation in any amount to Skewed Visions in the last 12 months.
Is this performance? Is this community? Is this resistance to the isolation of fascism and the enforced surveillance of social media? Is it an attempt to support the US Postal Service? Is it nostalgia? Is it merely a letter from someone writing specifically to you once a month? You decide.
While letter writing has a long and complicated history -- as a means of communication, a tool of colonialism and capitalism, as well as being a mode of the writing of history -- this project does not have an explicit educational program or objective. It is instead a series of personal letters, written one-at-a-time to individuals (acquaintances as well as strangers) who may or may not write back. What new circumstances may develop between two people through letters remains unpredictable and an opportunity for something other to take place.
